Standard numbering heads

For more than 40 years MECAGRAV Industrie has been specialised in the production of numbering heads which combine only the finest qualities of sturdiness and finishing.
This type of numbering head is recommended with respect to identifying metal and plastic components. In general used in conjunction with presses or hydraulic jacks, Mécagrav numbering machines leave a deep and regular inscription in the part destined for marking.
These devices can be produced in different sizes and wheels combinations :
- Incrementation of the type possible every 1st , 2nd, 3rd or 4th impact.
- Automatic incrementation of the rotation of the wheels, count up or count down.
- Character height from 1 to 10 mm.
- 3 different types of engraving width: standard, semi-straight or straight according to the overall dimensions of the required marking.
- Specially treated steel wheels

NU 4 numbering heads : manually rotated wheels

Rotation is carried out manually after unlocking the stop ratchet on the wheel.

NU 14 numbering heads : semi-automatic
manually rotated wheels

To manually increment individual characters (lever-assisted wheel rotation)

NU 3 numbering heads : automatically rotated wheels

To automatically increment individual characters.

series 2000 numbering heads : manually rotated wheels

These are mechanical numbering heads for manual, hammer impact marking, or can be adapted to marking machines (percussion or presses). These numbering heads are fitted with wheels engraved from 0 to 9, plus a neutral. Wheel indexing is carried out by locked cylindrical pins. An adapter shank is provided when fitting to a marking machine.

Special numbering heads

Automatic rotating wheel numbering heads may be incremented in a number of ways:
- every 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th or 6th impact.
- incrementation also possible counting down.
A device fitted with a pneumatic jack (replacing the standard, mechanical system) enables automatic incrementation for special systems.
A dud wheel can be used to form an interval between two parts of an inscription.

Hot foil marking numbering heads incorporate features which enable them to operate in conditions up to 250 °C. and with non-cutting engraving: brass cage, treated steel wheels, stainless steel components, heat-resistant springs. This resistance allows heating which is completely independent from the environment of the numbering tool. Temperature setting is carried out using a thermocouple.

Series of numbering heads with type holders
Type holders can be located to the left or right of the wheels. They can also contain two lines of type. The numbering tool may also be flanked by two type holders.

Radial numbering heads are designed for marking operations presenting difficult access (i.e. groove roots).

For parts difficult to access, it is also possible to use either automatic or manual offset impact numbering heads.

MECAGRAV Industrie makes, on specific request, special wheels characterised by a hardness greater or equal to 64 Hrc.
